Ashley Furniture Closes Property Deal in N.C.

Ashley Furniture has aquired the 1.376 million square foot manufacturing complex on 306 acres at 916 Baltimore Road in Advance, N.C.
The transaction was handled by Doug Faris, Senior Vice President in Binswanger's Charlotte, N.C., office. Financials were not immediately available. Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc., the furniture manufacturer and retailer, will use the site for a distribution and manufacturing operation that will employ 550 people and eventually create up to 1,100 jobs.

A Winston-Salem manufacturer of hospitality furnishings is moving to Advance to gain more space for a projected growth spurt. Beaufurn LLC, founded in 1996, is taking over the former Jeffco plant, a 72,000-square-foot building at 5269 U.S. 158. It plans to begin production there by Aug. 1. Beaufurn comes from the words "Beautiful Furniture." It designs and makes high-quality furnishings, such as tables, chairs and lounge seating, for hotels, restaurants, universities, airports, food courts, coffee shops and commercial stores. Advance has lately become a hot spot for furniture manufacturing. Ashley Furniture Industries, the largest U.S. furniture manufacturer and retailer,
