Henredon Furniture to Close Plant

January 3, 2013
Mount Airy, N.C., was dealt an economic blow Thursday afternoon when word came that Henredon Furniture will close, representing a loss of more than 100 jobs.

The local plant on Mountain View Road off U.S. 601 is being phased out so its operations can be moved to Long View, N.C., a community near Hickory, N.C.

Furniture Brands International reported a net loss of $18 million for its third quarter ended Sept. 29, compared to a net loss of $24.5 million in the prior-year quarter.
