Grocery giant The Kroger Co. is expanding its reach into the home furnishings business with its Marketplace stores.
The company, which opened a 123,000-square-foot store in Chesterfield Co., Va., this morning, has plans for a second store in Richmond, Va.
Kroger's Marketplace concept combines traditional groceries and prepared foods with general merchandise items such as home furnishings, children's toys, bed sheets, kitchen appliances and furniture.
