Andes International Establishes East Coast Warehouse
October 28, 2009
Chilean case goods manufacturer Andes International, which has corporate officers in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., has opened an East Coast distribution center in High Point.
The company makes furniture for bedrooms, home offices, dining rooms, and living rooms at its factory in Chile. Fernando Urquiza, a Chilean native who serves as president, moved the company's headquarters to California earlier this year. The company has shown at High Point Market for 21 years, and has a showroom in space D-745 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
"We proudly participate in the High Point Market, and we had a distribution center in High Point until eight years ago," said Urquiza. "Then we decided to try distributing all of our furniture in the United States from a California facility. We realize now that High Point is where we need to be in order to easily and economically distribute our products across the eastern half of the U.S."
The company created two positions to staff the new High Point distribution center and anticipates hiring additional employees.
