DOC Initiates Bedroom Dumping Review

February 26, 2009
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has initiated an administrative review of the anti-dumping order on wooden bedroom furniture from China covering shipments for the 2008 calendar year.

Final results of the review are due no later than Jan. 31, 2010, but the complexity of the Chinese bedroom case has historically led to extensions in such proceedings.

A release Thursday in the Federal Register lists more than 200 companies that have qualified for a separate duty rate in the most recent segment of the anti-dumping case in which they participated, either in the original investigation, or in a new-shipper or administrative review.

If one of the named companies does not qualify for a separate rate, all other exporters of wooden bedroom furniture from the Peoples Republic of China that have not qualified for a separate rate are deemed to be covered by this review as part of the single PRC entity of which the named exporters are a part.
