Cort, Furniture Training Co. Renew Partnership
April 29, 2009
Cort Furniture, North Logan, Utah, has renewed its partnership with Furniture Training Company to provide training to its sales team.
"Cort, like many other companies, exists in a very competitive environment," said Tony Bellerdine, executive vice president of sales for Cort Furniture. "Having knowledgeable salespeople is just as important as having the right price or the right product. There are a lot of elements that go into training a successful furniture sales rep, and confidence in the product being sold--or in our case rented--is one of the biggest ones. Not only does furniture education give the rep confidence in their presentation, but it instills in the customer a sense of security. Customers feel more comfortable speaking with someone who is clearly knowledgeable."
Mark Lacy, president of Furniture Training Company, said that Cort Furniture has primarily used FTC's "Fundamentals of Furniture Product Knowledge" course, which gives sales staff the background in product knowledge to become furniture experts in the showroom.
The company also offers two other training options: "SalesForce: Selling with Service," which provides a systematic and consistent way to interact with every customer; and "RoomDesign for Sales Associates," which teaches design skills (including styles, color, layout design and room arrangement) to sales staff to increase effectiveness with customers.
