Fingers Expects 10 Ashley Stores Next Year

Fingers Plans to Add Two Stores to Its Ashley Lineup

August 2008
The transformation Fingers Furniture of Houston announced Monday calls for the retailer to have a total of 10 Ashley Furniture HomeStores by this time next year. The company said Monday it will convert its current Fingers stores to the Ashley nameplate following a $40 million liquidation sale that begins Thursday.

A statement released by the company Monday said there are plans for two new Ashley HomeStores next year, including a site in The Woodlands where the company had previously announced plans for a Fingers store. The other new store will be in League City.

The company opened its first Ashley store in 2007 in Conroe and has since added locations in Katy, Pearland and Pasadena. Fingers CEO Rodney Finger said customers had shown a preference for smaller stores in multi-tenant developments that don’t involve a long drive to shop for furniture.

In addition, the Finger family is pursuing a longer-term plan to redevelop its Gulf Freeway property, which currently houses a Fingers store, for multi-tenant use.
