Triad Health Project Designers Care 2009 Set for this Weekend
May 28, 2009
If you'll be in the Triad area of North Carolina this weekend, you should plan to attend the annual Triad Health Project's Designers Care 2009.
Designers Care is a furniture tag sale and fundraiser that runs Friday through Sunday at The Village at North Elm in Greensboro, N.C. All proceeds go to benefit Triad Health Project's work of providing emotional and practical support to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, to their loved ones, and to those at risk for HIV/AIDS.
Designers Care kicks off at 7 pm, Friday with an Opening Night Gala. Attendees will be able to purchase home furnishings and accessories donated by designers and manufacturers before the tag sale opens to the public Saturday morning.
The tag sale, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, is free and offers prices below wholesale. Products from Bungalow 5, Lexington Home Brands, Blue Fish, Pine Cone Hill, Sunpan Modern Home, Nathan Anthony, Regina-Andrews Designers, Dash & Albert Rug Co., Palu and other nationally recognized brands have donated to the sale.
The event is chaired this year by Jane Matteson, president of Matteson Design and Consulting, and Kimberley Wray, vice president of marketing for the High Point Market Authority.
A centerpiece of the donated items is a set of high-end kitchen cabinets donated by British Traditions.
"With the economic downturn, I’ve found that many people are remodeling their homes rather than moving,” Matteson said. “This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is remodeling their kitchen to buy top-quality cabinets at a price that’s less than half of wholesale. And—since British Traditions is still manufacturing this line, if the buyers need any additional pieces, they’ll be able to purchase them.”
Buyers’ passes for the Friday night gala are $35 each or two for $50 and they may be purchased in advance by contacting THP at (336) 275-1654 or by visiting THP’s Greensboro office at 801 Summit Avenue. Advanced reservations are encouraged, but passes may be purchased at the door the evening of the event.
“We’ve had great support from the manufacturers, showrooms, and designers who have donated the highest-quality merchandise,” Wray said. “And we’re expecting equally strong support from the public, who will be able to buy great furniture and accessories at rock-bottom prices while they help THP fight HIV/AIDS in our community.”
