New Warehouse, Distribution Company Opens in High Point

A 210,000-square-foot, multi-purpose warehouse and distribution facility in High Point has a new name and is under new ownership.

Partners Kristen Kochekian and Michael Kocheckian have acquired Vernon Distribution Services from Kent Vernon and renamed it Furniture City Warehouse & Distribution.

The facility is located on a 50-acre site just over a mile from the International Home FUrnishings Center in High Point.

“With our central Mid-Atlantic location, we can provide customers with the best distribution east of the Mississippi River,” said Kristen Kochekian, president of the new company. “Our facility is a four-hour drive from the ports of Wilmington, (N.C.), Charleston, (S.C.), and Norfolk, (Va.), allowing for wide ranging distribution advantages. We also have instant access to Interstates 40, 73/74 and 85—allowing for quick deliveries and same-day service.”

Furniture City Warehouse & Distribution offers a variety of flexible storage options including, a 24-hour security surveillance system including on-premise patrols; real time, Web-based password-accessible inventory tracking; bar-coded inventory control; flexible long- and short-term leasing options; versatile storage; more than 20 loading docks and six drive-in docks with available ramp access; additional covered storage; and experienced warehouse personnel.

The facility is housed in the former Alma Desk factory.
