Harden Launches EcoONE Program in Vegas
September 8, 2009
High-end case goods and upholstery manufacturer Harden Furniture, McConnellsville, N.Y., will launch EcoONE, a program offering furniture with material options free of potentially harmful chemicals, at next week's Las Vegas Furniture Market.
EcoONE options are available for all components of any Harden upholstery design for the standard upcharge rate. Foam cushions may be selected with either BiOH soy-based ingredients or natural latex foam. SFI-certified sustainable lumber, used for framing material, meets upcoming CARB requirements and features ultra low-emitting formaldehyde. Other construction details include natural jute twine for 10-way hand-tied springs, organically grown and processed cotton batting and ticking, burlap woven from organic fibers and pileated organic wool. Seat springs are made from recycled steel.
Since 2007, Harden has been committed to a wide selection of upholstery fabrics such as organic cotton, bamboo, hemp and materials made from post-consumer recycled fibers. Environmentally responsible leather, processed without chromium and reduced water consumption, is also available.
Additionally, Harden’s custom capabilities allow consumers to supply their own upholstery cover materials.
EcoONE case goods feature water-based finishing materials on any exposed wood requiring a finish.
Harden has a long history of environmental stewardship and is a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council. In 2007, Harden was the first company to be awarded Silver Exemplary status by the organization.
Harden Furniture EcoONE options will be on display at Las Vegas Market Sept. 14-17 in the Living Green Pavilion, booth B-200e, located in World Market Center Building B.
