Kindel Creates Table for Kuwait
November 2, 2009High-end furniture maker Kindel Furniture, Grand Rapids, Mich., has shipped a 12-foot-diameter mahogany table to Kuwait that will serve as the dining table for a Kuwaiti ministry's annual meeting in December, according to a Saturday report(http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2009/10/grand_rapids_furniture_company.html) in The Grand Rapids Press.
"It's got 84 pieces of applied brass all the way around the apron, with gilt leaf on it and a huge medallion inlaid in the center," Kindel spokeswoman Amy Wolbert told the paper. "It's the most costly item we've ever produced out of this factory."
Wood inlays include burnished of satinwood, ebony and mahogany, and a rosewood border for the table, the value of which Kindel didn't disclose.
