Spring Air Wins Technology Award
April 7, 2009Managing Automation Magazine has awarded mattress manufacturer Spring Air Co. with the Manufacturing 100 Award as a best-in-class manufacturer with innovative technology and proven processes. In particular, the magazine cited the Tampa-based company's recent implementation of QlikView business intelligence technology as one of the reasons for the award.
In less than a month of using QlikView to facilitate better management decision making, Spring Air realized a complete return on its investment. The company acquired more than $10 million in new business and reduced its estimated annual costs for business intelligence and management reporting by more than $1 million in its first two months of leveraging the power of QlikView across the enterprise. Spring Air tapped QlikView analysis to provide senior management with real time data to improve business decisions across its manufacturing facilities and departments — ranging from finance, to sales and production.
"Because of the complication of having multiple technology platforms, it was at times arcane to quickly get critical data to make efficient business decisions," said acting CEO Steve Cumbow. "With QlikView, we now know what's going on with our products and customers. We can see where money is made and where not, and make adjustments accordingly. From a company performance perspective, the payback of our initiative will continue to grow exponentially."
