Sleepy's Helps with Sandy Relief
December 12, 2012
Mattress and bedding retailer Sleepy’s(http://www.sleepys.com) and The Society of St. Vincent de Paul() have teamed to provide Hurricane Sandy Relief to families affected by the disaster.
Sleepy’s is donating 100 sets of bedding to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the charitable organization operating in New York for 64 years.
“This is a fitting partnership as Sleepy’s provides quality bedding at affordable prices, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides bedding to hundreds of families in need each year,” said Thomas J. Abbate, executive director of the society of St. Vincent de Paul. “Both Sleepy’s and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are adamant about supporting the needs of those Long Islanders who are working hard to recover from the recent devastation.”
This assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy is the most recent donation in Sleepy’s community relations program “Bedder Days.” Since May 2011, Sleepy’s, has consistently donated beds and bedding products to various organizations and individuals in need through the progam.
The organization has donated to various other causes including Rebuild Tuscaloosa, the American Red Cross and television makeover shows such as George to the Rescue and Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
“We were eager to work with the Society of St. Vincent dePaul knowing we could deliver new beds and a measure of comfort to those displaced by the storm,” says Adam Blank, Sleepy’s COO. “Sleepy’s mission is to provide healthy sleep for everyone, but particularly for those affected by a disaster.”
Sleepy’s continues to respond to immediate situations, such as those caused by natural disasters, as well as evaluating individual and organizational needs to donate the most appropriate mattresses or furniture so that all can have a “bedder day”.
