Bloomingdales' Showcase Features Natuzzi, Metropolitan Home and SCAD
February 16, 2009
Natuzzi, Metropolitan Home magazine, and Savannah College of Art and Design have partnered with Bloomingdale's for a display on the new furniture floor in the retailer's 59th Street store in New York that showcases the synergy between furnishings and art.
The Art of Design event will kick off with a gala celebration at 6 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 19, hosted by Donna Warner, editor in chief of Metropolitan Home, and Antonio Larosa, chair of furniture design at SCAD. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Natuzzi Italy designed its 2009 collection with an artistic sensibility and a passion for natural elements.
"Each item is seen as a work of art," said Tod Craft, Natuzzi Italy vice president of sales and marketing. "When we fashioned our 2009 collection for an exclusive display at Bloomingdale's, we thought of it as an exhibition of art for the home."
That sensibility, and Natuzzi Italy's idea that each group should be displayed in "total living concepts," led to the partnership with SCAD and Metropolitan Home. Each Natuzzi Italy design is offered in a complete lifestyle environment of coordinated seating, rugs, lighting and accessories, with art as the next logical step to complete the fully harmonized room.
Natuzzi Italy’s premium leather collection was paired with stunning works of art from SCAD's students, alumni and faculty. Each piece of art was chosen based on its inspiration from, and synergy with, the Natuzzi groups.
The SCAD art will be on display through March 1, with the pieces available for sale during the exhibit. The Natuzzi collections are on permanent display on the fifth floor of Bloomingdale's 59th Street store.
