Select Comfort Adds Beds with Foam, Temperature Controls

New Select Comfort “Sleep Number” Bed Added Features Include Soft Foam, Cashmere Fabrics; 7000 model, Individualized Temperature Controls

February 2008
Minneapolis-based Select Comfort, the nation’s leading bed retailer with 470 stores, has introduced its first additions to its core lineup in four years. The new Sleep Number 6000 and 7000 beds feature exclusive advanced fabrics, design changes and new materials.

The new 6000 bed provides three inches of “Intralux Ultra” foam, which is exclusive to Select Comfort, and 2.25 ounces of cashmere blend fiberfill and a one-inch layer of “Hyper soft” quilting foam.

“The inspiration for (the 6000) was received from consumers who wanted the most popular Sleep Number bed features with an extra layer of luxurious softness,” said Matt Kershner, product management director.

The 7000 has “Outlast Adaptive Comfort” technology designed to balance temperature swings that can cause restless nights, according to the company. It allows two sleepers with different temperature preferences to find compatibility in the same bed. It also features the foam and soft fabrics of the 6000. Like other Select Comfort products, the new products allow sleepers to adjust their side of the bed to a setting from 0 to 100, which offer varying levels of comfort, firmness and support.
