Doyle Resigns From ISPA

August 14, 2009
The International Sleep Products Association, Alexandria, Va., announced Thursday that President and CEO Richard Doyle resigned from his post, effective immediately, to pursue other professional opportunities.

Two veteran ISPA professionals--Executive Vice President and General Counsel Ryan Trainer and Vice President of Marketing and Member Services Debi Sutton--will assume Doyle's duties on an interim basis, and a three-member lay transition committee was established to reevaluate the organization's strategic plan and lead the search for a new top executive.

"I would like to thank Dick Doyle for the work he has done over the last seven years," said ISPA Chairman Don Wright, CEO of Wright of Thomasville, in a release. "He was a tireless advocate for our industry in Washington and had a passion for furthering the branding of the industry in the minds of consumers. But over the last few weeks, my predecessor resigned his post and we lost several key members. In assessing the transition period the organization was about to enter, Dick felt it was an opportunity for him to explore other professional challenges."

Both of Doyle's interim replacements, Trainer and Sutton, have been on the ISPA staff since 2001.

"Both Ryan and Debi are well known to our members and will do an excellent job of serving their interests and keeping the association running smoothly during this transitional period," Wright said.
