February 2, 2009
Upholstery and case goods vendor Schnadig International Corp., a recent acquisition of Chinese manufacturer Markor International Furniture Co., is considering an expansion in High Point that would create 70 jobs, the High Point Economic Development Corp. announced Friday.

The High Point City Council will consider authorizing incentives for up to $100,000 for Schnadig's expansion at a public hearing on Monday.

Schnadig would open office, warehousing and manufacturing operations at 4200 Tudor Lane in High Point. Currently the company has a sales and product development office on Eastchester Drive in High Point.

Schnadig would relocate both its main office in Des Plaines, Ill., and warehousing operations in Mississippi to the proposed High Point facility. New jobs would include senior management, sales, product development, manufacturing, customer service, accounting, credit, operations, warehouse management and operations, and information technology. Those jobs would be phased in from the first quarter of 2009 through 2012.
