WHFA, NHFA Set Las Vegas Seminar Lineup

January 19, 2009
The Western Home Furnishings Association (WHFA) and National Home Furnishings Association (NHFA) have unveiled their February Las Vegas Winter Market Web site and released a schedule for educational seminars at Market, Feb. 9–13.

All seminars are scheduled for the Retailer Resource Center, located in World Market Center's Building B, 16th Floor, Space 1630. (There's another RCC location as well in WMC-C412.)

Retailers can now visit the RRC Web site at www.WHFA.org to access a one-stop source for information about the RRC and Las Vegas Market. The site provides information on educational seminars, a preview list of business service providers that will be showing in both RRC locations and more.

In addition to the seminars, WHFA and NHFA have partnered with the World Market Center Las Vegas to create an Education Concierge, which can be found in the lobby of Building B. The Education Concierge will be available for those wishing to learn up-to-date seminar details, locations and speaker contact information.

One highlight of the seminar week is the WHFA Academy Training Series focusing on public relations and marketing. With the slow economy, it is even more important for retailers to create easy and inexpensive ways of getting their name out to customers by utilizing public relations and new marketing solutions. Topics that will be covered during the WHFA Academy Training series are email marketing, community relations, and Internet advertising and much more. This not-to-be-missed series takes place daily from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the Retailer Resource Center.

Another highlight of the winter seminar series in the Retailer Resource Center is the Fast Forward sponsored "Six Things—No, Seven Things Your Family Business Can Do In A Recession" session, where attendees will learn innovative ways to take advantage of their downtime during a recession while increasing revenue, occupying salespeople, growing your company and protecting your investment. Fast Forward is a community of passionate, young, up-and-coming home furnishings executives working together to gain the tools, knowledge and networking abilities in a fun environment to become tomorrow’s industry leaders.

A complete listing of the dates and times of WHFA and NHFA seminars in WMC-B1630 follows:

* "Why Furniture Sales Associates Don't Sell Furniture"; Mon., Feb. 9, 8:30–9:30 a.m. Mark Lacy of The Furniture Training Company will demonstrate a systematic and highly effective approach for training inexperienced and under-performing associates to sell total room solutions to every customer coming to your store. Learn to teach your sales associates to sell more furniture to more customers in days, not months or years.

Will it be possible to get seminar materials without attending the seminars? We are a small importer, and unfortunately our current cash flow won't allow us to attend the show, but we'd love to get the info from the seminars.
