Zenith Global Adds In-Home Delivery, New Rate Quote System

May 5, 2009
Zenith Global Logistics, Conover, N.C., has selected Exel Direct as a preferred home delivery provider to offer retailers in-home delivery service, including a newly developed proprietary Web-based rate quote system that gives retailers the exact, all-inclusive shipping and home-delivery rate from the point of distribution to the consumer's home.

"More and more retailers are looking for ways to stand out in a competitive marketplace and tough economy," said Jack Hawn, president and CEO of Zenith Global Logistics. "Our in-home delivery, with our new rate shop program, gives them one way to do that. Retailers simply enter the distribution location and the final shipping destination, and in seconds they'll have not only the total shipping and delivery cost but also the estimated date of delivery."

Hawn added that Exel Direct shares "our commitment of providing reliable, innovative and flexible service to customers, and their reputation is second to none."

As part of the agreement, Exel Direct provides nationwide delivery coverage for Zenith customers in the home furnishings industry. Exel Direct will utilize its state-of-the-art centralized delivery service center and routing systems to provide the optimal customer experience.

Zenith Global Logistics in-home delivery program will offer four distinct service levels throughout the 48 contiguous U.S. states.

The "Bronze" level, commonly known as "over-the-threshold" delivery, brings a retailer's boxed product to the first dry, secure location at the home.

"Silver" provides delivery to the consumer's room of choice, including two flights of stairs.

"Gold" is the white-glove level of service, where product is unboxed, assembled and quality assured, then blanket wrapped in a delivery truck and transported to the consumer's home. Gold level includes the room of choice, with two flights of stairs, and basic set-up (e.g., bed frame assembly, mirrors affixed to dressers, shelves positioned in armoires).

"Platinum" adds up to 30 minutes of light assembly to Gold-level service, to set-up more involved items such as bunk beds, cribs or ready-to-assemble furniture.

"Nationwide in-home delivery means a retailer doesn't have to lose any sale," Hawn remarks. "Whether it's a 'snowbird' shopper who needs furnishings delivered to a seasonal home, or a family who is outfitting a vacation house on the coast, the salesperson will have all the information necessary to close the sale."

The in-home delivery program provides 24/7 visibility, full track-and-trace capabilities and billing services. Customer satisfaction surveys are another value-added option offered.
