Furniture Row’s Denver Mattress Company recently donated more than $176,000 to the Salvation Army after an in-store campaign in which the retailer earmarked $20 from every mattress sold during December to the organization.
Also, as part of the retailer’s eighth annual Operation Rest Assured charity campaign, Denver Mattress underwrote the cost of newspaper and television advertising that raised funds and awareness for the Salvation Army.
Salvation Army officials said the latest donation comes as the organization is coping with a 7 percent decreases in kettle donations over the holidays. At the same time, Colorado has been having a snowy and cold winter.
“The Salvation Army is extremely grateful for this very special gift from Denver Mattress Company’s Operation Rest Assured campaign,” said Lt. Col. Raymond Peacock, divisional commander of the Salvation Army, Intermountain Division. “This gift will provide shelter to the homeless, feed the hungry, tutor at-risk kids in our after school programs and help families transition out of homelessness. Lives will be changed throughout the Metro Denver community.” Furniture Row operates more than 330 stores in 31 states.
