Barclay Butera Featured Speaker at World Market Center Designer Event

Lifestyle Designer Barclay Butera to Speak at Las Vegas Design Center First Friday Event

February 2008
Lifestyle designer Barclay Butera is the featured speaker at next month’s “First Friday” presentation for interior designers at from the World Market Center’s (WMC) Las Vegas Design Center. “Barclay Butera on Transitional Style” will take place March 7, 10–11:30 a.m. on the 16th Floor of WMC’s Building B.

Butera’s transitional style is grounded in European, American and Far East traditional influences and invigorated by his own contemporary twist. He has recently designed both Veranda’s and Esquire’s Fall design showhouses, and his own home was published in Traditional Home last Fall. Emphasizing clean, classic tailored lines and the importance of intriguing textiles, Butera’s “fashion for the home” is a seamless blend of integrity, creativity and timelessness.

“Furnishings don’t make a home, life does. And life isn’t something that comes from a store,” Butera said. “Design is the way you present your lifestyle to the world. And that’s when the right furnishings make all the difference.”

Butera will discuss the following topics:

• The “Better-Best” concept defined and how he creates clients for life.

• Creating “fashion for the home” using timelessness, classic tailored lines and a contemporary twist—think Audrey Hepburn and the “little black dress.”

• Using textures, symmetry and layering in transitional design.

• Incorporating client collections and heritage pieces into the overall design.

• Merging indoor/outdoor living.

• Transitional style within Hollywood Regency, Sophisticated Mountain and other design concepts.
