Bernhardt Furniture will introduce Bernhardt Interiors, a new quick-ship upholstery and occasional program with an eclectic designer approach, at next month’s High Point Market, Oct. 20-26. Bernhardt Interiors incorporates largely neo-traditional styling with heavy emphasis on clean-lined upholstery and occasional pieces in a variety of media. The program features 60 fabrics and leathers with no upcharge for any upholstery on any frame. Bernhardt Interiors aims to offer retailers the potential for strong special order business, and quick shipping with a three-week delivery commitment. Bernhardt will host retailers for a launch party in “showroom within the showroom,” IHFC-D600, 4-7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19.

The Maynard family didn’t know how lucky it was when Al Maynard, home from World War II, decided to open up a second-hand furniture shop in little ol’ Belton, S.C. Lt. Maynard, an Atlanta native who had a business degree from the University of North Carolina, was discharged from the Navy and landed in a furniture shop in Rome, Ga. He had but one year of furniture-selling experience under his belt before he went into business for himself. Maynard picked Belton for what seemed a good reason: his wife was from Belton.
