GE Money and the retail buying group Furniture First have reached a multi-year agreement to provide consumer financing services through the Furniture First’s independent retailer locations across the United States. The private label credit cards, issued through GE Money’s Sales Finance unit, provide homeowners extended terms and special financing promotions with no annual fee. Furniture First, a buying group for independent retailers nationwide, announced the speaker lineup for its Annual Symposium, to be held Aug. 19–21 in Chicago. With the theme, “New Strategies for Survival and Success,” the event will feature a number of retailers as well as a retail panel discussion and furniture industry panel. Speakers include Henry Terk of The Old Furniture Company in Albany, N.Y., in a presentation focused on increasing profits by using fewer suppliers. They are: David Pierce of Pierce & Sons Inc., and Furniture and Mattress Outlet in Muscatine, Idaho; Forrest Lilly of Indian River Furniture, Rockledge, Fla.; and Clay Erickson of Erickson Furniture, Everett, Wash.
