Trade show venue management company Merchandise Mart Properties and the International Textile Market Association, organizes of the bi-annual Showtime fabric fair in High Point, have signed a new five-year agreement to continue to host the event in Market Square and the Suites at Market Square. ITMA and MMPI will work together closely to identify and attract new segments of the industry to build attendance for the Showtime events. ITMA Supporting Breast Cancer Research

Members of the International Textile Market Association (ITMA) are supporting the fight against breast cancer with an auction of women’s designer jackets using elegant fabrics donated by textile manufacturers. ITMA is conducting silent bidding on the jackets until June 1. All of the funds raised will go to Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test, a Greensboro, N.C.-based non-profit whose mission is to support research for early diagnostic testing for breast cancer. The jackets will appear on dress forms June 1–4 during the Showtime fabric show in High Point, and were displayed in showrooms during the High Point Furniture Market in April.

Upholstery fabrics from members of the International Textile Market Association will dress mannequins in a number of furniture showrooms at next week’s High Point Market. The ITMA hopes to raise awareness for earlier detection of breast cancer. The mannequins, dressed in jackets crafted by Dallas-based 3 Sisters Clothing, can be seen in several showrooms, including La-Z-Boy and Pearson. The clothing manufacturer is known for using home furnishings fabrics in its haute line. Fabrics were donated by a number of textile companies, including Costa Blanca, Valdese Weavers, Craftex Mills and Textile Fabric Associates. Art Studios to Take Part in Showtime

More than a dozen art studios specializing in designs for upholstery fabrics will be exhibiting at next month’s Showtime in High Point. Members of the International Textile Market Association, the group that hosts Showtime, suggested the idea of having their customers and the studios in one place at the same time, said ITMA director Catherine Morsell.
