(JCP) Supermodel Cindy Crawford is expanding her stake in the home furnishings business through a partnership with the Texas-based JCPenney department store that will introduce Cindy Crawford Style. A Raymour & Flanigan store in Wallkill, N.Y. had a bomb scare Wednesday afternoon, according to a report from Mid-Hudson News Service. Police investigating the incident said someone called the store around 2 p.m. and said a bomb was set to explode in the store. The building was evacuated, and a search bomb-sniffing dogs revealed no bomb. Police are still investigating the incident.

Less than a month after New York-based Levitz Furniture filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, liquidation stores are underway at all 76 of the 97-year-old retailer’s locations. While the fate of some of those locations remains unclear, officials at Raymour & Flanigan, Liverpool, N.Y., which operates 13 stores in the New York Metro area and 72 overall, said the company expects to acquire leases for 18 former Levitz locations. Raymour & Flanigan, Liverpool, N.Y., will divert 15.2 million pounds of cardboard, Styrofoam and plastic from landfills this year as part of a recycling initiative in which what were once waste materials are transformed into consumer products ranging from egg cartons and lunch trays to picture frames and counter tops.
