Award-winning furniture designer Vladimir Kagan has signed on with the Sustainable Furniture Council (SFC), which promotes eco-friendly practices. “We are thrilled to have someone of Vladimir Kagan’s stature join our organization,” said Susan Inglis, SFC’s executive director. “His work has been an inspiration to many for years, and it is further confirmation of just how important the sustainability issue is becoming in our industry.” Kagan’s designs from the 40s through the 60s have become Mid-Century Modern icons, and his work is collected by connoisseurs and museums around the world, including The Cooper Hewitt Design Museum of the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Museum,

Kathy Ireland, who has licensing agreements with several furniture companies, has donated $100,000 to four charities to celebrate record-setting sales for her lifestyle products company, Kathy Ireland Worldwide. The World Market Center in Las Vegas matched Ireland’s contribution, bringing the total the charities have received to $200,000. The recipients of the contributions include the Elizabeth Taylor HIV/AIDS Foundation, Alliance for Christian Education, Safe Surfing and Help1Up. She recently met with actor Erik Estrada to present a donation to his Safe Surfing program, which informs parents to avoid Internet predators. Kathy Ireland, who has licensed collections in virtually every area of the home, is getting into the water with a new line of fountains and water features that will be produced through an agreement with Bluworld, the largest manufacturer in the category. The new line will include indoor and outdoor water features that will range in price from $100 to a few thousand dollars.
